Building Information Modeling is changing the infrastructure industry

BIM for Infrastructure is on the rise! This is the result of current McGraw-Hill study "The Business Value of BIM for Infrastructure".

BIM stands for Building Information Modeling and is an intelligent model-based process. In just a few years BIM has reached a great importance in the field of architecture. The productivity, efficiency and sustainability of the method have convinced the construction industry. Now bim solutions also holds in the infrastructure sector feeder. McGraw-Hill Company, a global publishing and information group, has taken this development under the microscope and determined the importance of BIM in infrastructure as part of a survey. The result: BIM has the infrastructure sector not yet penetrated, but experts reckon with the fact that BIM will prevail much faster in infrastructure than it was in the construction industry.

Regardless of whether in road and rail construction, the site planning and the energy and water supply, BIM provides an intelligent model-based process that enables users more comprehensive insight into a project and a faster, more cost-effective and sustainable implementation. The main advantages of BIM call participants: fewer conflicts and improvements (58 percent), better quality (48 percent), lower project risks and a better planning of the projects (60 percent).
